Radio DMC to make welcome return to Dumfries Music Conference 2017!
Organisers of the annual Dumfries Music Conference (DMC) have confirmed that Radio DMC will be making a welcome return and it will broadcast live over the two days.
This will be the third year that live radio has featured during the conference and will this year involve a range of shows presented by Jim Gellatly, Melissa Gunn of Small Town Sounds and Emily Cooper of Alive Radio.
Mike Nicholson, one of the organisers of Dumfries Music Conference told us, “Since launching Radio DMC three years ago, it has become an integral part of Dumfries Music Conference. Not only does it allow us to communicate with people that aren’t able to attend in person, it provides a platform for young, local musicians to perform in a radio environment. Our skilled presenters are an avenue to other potential opportunities, both on a local and a national level.“
Radio DMC will broadcast on Friday 20th October and Saturday 21st October between 12 noon – 4pm. It will be available online live during the shows as well as after the conference itself. As with previous years, there will also be audience seating available in The Stove for those who would like to watch the musicians perform whilst on air.
Melissa Gunn of Small Town Sounds has presented shows for Radio DMC over the past two years is excited about getting back on the airwaves.
Melissa explained, “Presenting Radio DMC is always lots of fun, and myself, the musicians and the audience always have a good giggle! Because it goes out live, anything can happen – and often does – but that always adds to the excitement of it all. My shows have featured some fantastic live performances from both new and experienced local musicians and I’m so pleased that the organisers of DMC have asked Small Town Sounds back to do it all again!”
Mike is also keen to see what the presenters have planned: “Some of DMC’s most memorable moments have happened thanks to Radio DMC. We’re very much looking forward to seeing what happens this year – there’s bound to be some unforgettable performances!”
Following a very successful appeal for musicians to appear on Melissa’s show, all slots have now been filled. There will be eight live acts appearing over the Friday and Saturday shows! Keep an eye out for further information on who they are and times they will be appearing at, and feel free to head along and be part of the audience!
